Prism Case Study: Target
National retailing giant Target uses SiSense Prism to reduce theft across its 1,755 retail stores.
What is Target?
Minneapolis-based Target Corporation serves guests at 1,755 stores in 49 states and at Target.com, and also operates 37 distribution centers nationally. As a publicly-owned, US-based company, Target has a global presence with a headquarters location in India and sourcing offices around the world. In addition, the company operates a credit card segment that offers branded proprietary credit card products and rewards programs. Target also has more than 350,000 team members worldwide and is consistently recognized as an employer of choice.
What business needs was Target looking to solve when they came across Prism?
We were looking to organize and normalize "theft information" from multiple sources to accomplish the following goals:
- Reduce the workload associated with pulling theft data from multiple sources.
- Simplify the theft data to quickly understand what is being stolen where theft is occurring.
- Standardize data consolidation, analysis and distribution.
How was Target trying to address these needs before implementing Prism?
We were using multiple channels, resources and reports rather than a single solution such as Prism.
What other solutions did Target evaluate before selecting Prism?
Tableau, MicroStrategy, QlikView
Why did Target select Prism?
The ability to compile multiple data sources quickly and simply with the Elasticube Manager provides a big advantage over other BI solutions.
How was the Prism implementation carried out?
Prism was implemented at Target with only a handful of people, with little technical support from our established technical teams.
How is Target using Prism to solve its business needs today?
Dozens of reports and dashboards have been developed by our Assets Protection teams to analyze and react to theft data. Prism has improved data extraction and analysis, while reducing workload, by providing a "one stop shop" for theft-related data.
What are the greatest business benefits that Target is enjoying with Prism?
Faster, deeper insights with reduced workload.
