Distributing Dashboards and Reports
After creating a dashboard or report with Prism, sharing them with others is simple. You simply send the
PSM file generated by Prism to the person(s) you wish to share it with. These documents are compressed,
secure and contain all
connectivity/credential information required to access that data source directly from
the recipients desktop or laptop. Prism
files can be sent by email, placed in a shared folder the network,
or even placed online to be accessed via URL.
Distributing Live Dashboards
Prism documents (PSM) are unique in that they are always up-to-date. They hold all the information they need in order to
retrieve information in real-time, directly from the end-user’s computer, and present it to him or her as requested. When Prism
documents are configured to be live, they tend to be very small files - since the raw data is assumed to be placed in a central
database, the Prism document does not need to carry that data with it.
Distributing Offline reports
In some cases, the recipient computer cannot access the database from which data needs to be extracted. This often occurs
when the computer is offline all together, outside the VPN or not permitted to directly access the database.
For these cases, Prism allows you to include the raw data required to accommodate the document within the document itself.
Having
done this, the Prism document will be completely functional even when there is no network at all .
This is also useful when creating reports over Excel , where you wish to distribute the report but not the Excel file itself.
Prism Viewer
Prism Viewer is a used to view dashboards and reports created with Prism (PSM documents). Users viewing Prism
Documents
using the Viewer, will not be able to edit the document – but only view the data contained in the document
and interact with it within a
limited scope defined by the document creator.
It is very similar in concept to Adobe Acrobat Reader® that is used to read PDFs. It does not allow editing of the
document,
moving widgets around, changing the data, etc. It is kept simple so the user doesn’t have to really know
it is there.
Prism Documents viewed in the Viewer are still dynamic and do not lose any of the functionality defined by the author. Users can
still change selections in a Drop-down List to change the scope of data they are viewing, they can also change date/time
selections to view the data along different periods of time. Basically, the user can do whatever functionality the author gave to
the document. But they cannot change that functionality.
Prism Viewer requires a small installation (less than Acrobat Reader®) and has a zero learning curve for its user.
SiSense Spaces (Prism Online)
SiSense Spaces (coming soon) is your workspace at sisense.com. Once it is launched,
you will be able to store your documents online (and share them with others) as well as gain
access to a wide variety of additional services.
