The main difference between the packages is the use case: The Personal package assumes one user who designs and views dashboards, analytics and reports. The Professional package has in mind modelers or analysts that create a data driven application and end users (named or un-named) that receive LiveViewers or Viewers that contain the relevant data.  You can check our comparison table in the Pricing Overview page.

Prism Desktop is the product used to create new documents or define business intelligence applications, guided analytics, dashboards and reports, as well as perform ad-hoc analytics. Prism Viewer is used to view and refresh existing documents. Prism LiveViewer lets you distribute information to named users on a customized, secure and live basis. Prism Viewer lets you provide data for offline sources (excel, access and CSV) to unnamed users, with no customization or personalization. The following table shows the differences:

Our monthly and annual payment plans mean you buy the product for the period specified. You are entitled to maintenance and upgrades as well as the support package you chose. If the subscription is not renewed once it expires, the products will cease to operate. Perpetual pricing allows you to purchase and own the products indefinitely (they are yours to keep). To receive product upgrades, an annual maintenance fee is required from the second year.
