Salesforce Buys Tableau: Next Wave Analytics Consolidation

Sisense CEO Amir Orad told InformationWeek that these acquisitions are very much about big cloud vendors looking to own data and data assets. “If they own the data, they own the future of the market,” he said. They will also have the power to provide greater integration of these analytics acquisitions with their own platforms than they do with the platforms of competitors. “Everyone officially says that they will continue to support data from outside their cloud. I don’t think they are lying,” he said. “But if you are Salesforce, do you invest as much into integration with Salesforce and with Microsoft Dynamics equally?”

Best Practices and Insights on Culture From the Sisense-Periscope Data Merger

“There are actually two ingredients to a successful merger. Obviously the two organizations need to be strategically aligned on the business and product side but, just as importantly, you need to be culturally aligned, too. Lack of alignment is what usually destroys M&As. From a cultural perspective, you need to bring the two companies and two teams together, ensuring you have common, shared values, and highlighting those shared values and the ways that the joint company can help make everyone successful.”

Q & A: Premium Retail digs deeper into data with Sisense and Narrative Science

We are utilizing Sisense and Narrative Science in 2 different ways. In one way, we use the “out-of-the-box” functionality of Dynamic Narratives that allows Sisense to provide dynamically generated stories on SiSense Dashboard widgets. These plain-English stories provide a great way for analysts to have a starting point to providing analysis to our clients. In another way, we utilize the same dynamically generated stories from Narrative Science’s API and include it in our output that is provided to our Alexa and Google Assistant responses within our Premium Voice Analytics Platform.

Predictions on a Silver Platter: How AI Is Creating More Effective Human Interactions in Luxury

For the moment, the human element is a necessary one; the technological limitations of AI means that it’s not yet ready to infer small subtleties in the sales interaction — things like mood, tone and sarcasm, for example. Functionality aside, there’s also the negative association with automation in a luxury setting. For an affluent, frequent customer, a single call to a service line that reaches the automated phone tree might be enough to scotch the brand experience. To be sure, as consumers become more comfortable with the technology, especially as more and more millennials reach a point of affluence, humans may no longer be a requisite part of the mix. For now we better augment humans rather than replace them.

AI 101: What Fashion Needs to Know

“An increasing number of service businesses are leveraging AI to increase margins, but luxury has been something of a holdout,” (said Guy Levy-Yurista, PhD, VP Strategic Growth and Innovation at Sisense). “Affluent customers have demanded concierge-like service which could only be delivered by humans.” But this is changing, he said. Levy-Yurista looks to systems that can anticipate questions before they’re asked and fulfill needs that buyers weren’t even aware of, calling them “the essence of excellent, high-touch service.”

How to prepare your kids for jobs that don’t exist yet

Amir Orad, CEO of business analytics software Sisense, says that children should be multidisciplined. “Our tradition of schooling from the Industrial Age makes you really, really good at one thing,” he says. “I think that’s very dangerous for the next generation.” Parents should encourage kids to be good at more than one thing as a way of being flexible, he says. By choosing interdisciplinary courses of study, kids will not only develop a variety of skills, they’ll also be knowledgeable about more than one subject area, giving them some adaptability as jobs change. Another way to think about it? Try out a lot of different stuff. Having a variety of experience will prove valuable in the future, he says.

Data Analytics Professionals Weigh In on the Challenges of Bringing AI to Marketing

We spoke to three business leaders in the space at a recent conference hosted by analytics software firm Sisense about the difficulties of teaching people about AI, refitting aging systems to handle new tech and expanding the collective imagination of what’s possible. Amir Orad, Sisense CEO: “Today, with legacy technologies, getting the right data and the right data sets together is a pain cave. I know that because we work with data partners and they tell us their data teams spend 80 to 90 percent of their time dealing with a data mess versus what they’re hired to do which is AI, data science, predictive technologies–that’s the big thing…”

30 Percent of Employees Feel Indispensable. That’s a Bad Thing.

Disconnecting from work outside of the office needs to be a habit — not just something leaders allow employees to do when they go on vacation. Once a quarter, the company schedules a long weekend and requires that all employees disconnect out of the office. No phone calls or emails between team members are permitted.

By 2020, You’re More Likely to Have a Conversation With This Than With Your Spouse

The chatbot application that I’m most excited for is business intelligence (BI). Real potential is unleashed when we marry AI and BI. Companies like Sisense have already developed technologies that enable chatbots to assist executives in answering critical business questions–the latest sales trends, data about a customer, insights about a competitor, and more. If you’re considering a chatbot, consider the multitude of different challenges you’d like to solve. Chances are there’s a chatbot that can help.

In reference to using natural language search for Sisense, John Loury, president of Cause + Effect Strategy and Marketing, said, “(T)he insights pulled through NLP are… still fantastic to non-analysts. If that person can interact with Alexa or a chatbot…to access insights, we should nurture that. With NLP, it’s not just analytics on demand, it’s analytics the way you want them… and the ways that are easiest to consume.”

Business Intelligence: Managing Data Complexity with Analytics

With Sisense now a part of its solution, Profit Tools can offer more insights to its customers. A typical scenario would be for a customer to receive corporate profitability data that differs from the level of the previous month. “The analytics layer provided by Sisense allows our customers to find out what component costs are affecting profitability,” Widell explains. “They might find that the fuel cost is the same, but that unbilled waiting time has gone up. Then they could find out whether the drivers are being delayed at a port or rail terminal or at the customer’s facility. Once they know the cause, they can start considering options for solving the problem.”
