In this post, we’ll cover new features like the centralized connection manager and dashboard co-authoring, performance improvements with the Analytical Engine, modernization milestones, and helpful resources to support your team’s analytics journey.

Two new ways to simplify collaboration and scale smarter

This quarter, we’ve launched two powerful features to help teams move faster and work better together, whether you’re connecting data or building dashboards.

Centralized connection manager: Simplify and secure your data access

Released for general availability, the centralized connection manager provides a single place to create, manage, and securely share connection credentials across your data models. This centralized hub streamlines data management, enhances security, and accelerates time-to-action through collaborative management, eliminating scattered setup and siloed access.

A screen prompting the software user to “choose connection” and offering among a list of “shared connections” or the option to “create new connection.”

By unifying connection management, teams reduce manual effort, accelerate model creation, and maintain consistency as they scale.

Dashboard co-authoring: Build together with real-time collaboration

Also released to general availability, dashboard co-authoring lets multiple users or groups edit and re-publish a shared copy of a dashboard, unlocking a whole new level of collaboration. Whether you’re iterating with stakeholders or handing off work between teams, you can now collaborate in real time without worrying about version conflicts.

With built-in Git integration for version control, you get full visibility into changes, so you can collaborate confidently, roll back if needed, and ship faster.

Smarter queries, stronger models: The Analytical Engine is now the default

As part of our ongoing platform modernization, the Sisense Analytical Engine is now the default translator for all new data models, bringing enhanced accuracy, transparency, and control to the way queries are generated.

The Analytical Engine offers a more structured approach to data modeling, enabling optimized queries and improved performance, especially when working with live models or Build-to-Destination. By replacing heuristic-based logic with dimensional modeling best practices, the engine ensures more predictable results and paves the way for long-awaited capabilities like calculated dimensions and left joins.

Starting in the April L2025.2 release:

  • All new models automatically use the Analytical Engine
  • Existing models continue to operate as-is under your current translator configuration
  • A fallback option remains available per model, allowing teams to maintain flexibility as they transition

This update is part of a broader shift to simplify the translation layer and support future innovation across a wider range of databases and SQL dialects.

This shift gives teams greater consistency, performance, and future-ready capabilities when modeling and querying data in Sisense.

Modernizing the Sisense platform: What is changing and why it matters

This year, we began a major modernization of the Sisense platform—transforming it into a next-gen Analytics Platform as a Service (AnPaaS). The goal is simple: help developers and product teams build smarter, faster, and more scalable analytics experiences, while delivering seamless in-context insights to end users.

This isn’t just about rolling out new features. It’s about future-proofing your data strategy, modernizing everything from how your data is modeled and queried to how it’s visualized and embedded. Here are some of the most impactful updates now in motion:

At the data layer:

  • Introducing ElastiCube Cloud, our new cloud-native alternative to MonetDB.
  • Launching a more powerful analytical engine to improve query performance and reliability.
  • Rolling out enhanced data modeling with directional relationships based on dimensional modeling principles.

At the analytical layer:

  • A refreshed UX with modern styling and more customization options for embedded experiences.
  • Visual components and plugins are moving toward Compose SDK, offering more flexibility and a smoother dev experience.
  • Encouraging customers to embed with Compose SDK for richer, more interactive integrations (though iframe embedding is still supported).

At the platform level:

  • A new self-service managed cloud with multi-tenant support for better scalability and cost efficiency.
  • Beginning to offer consumption-based components so you can align platform costs more closely with product growth.

As this modernization continues, every update will be introduced with clear guidance and support. We’re committed to gradual transitions, with resources to help you adopt new components at your own pace.
